Welcome to 1st Wentwood Scout Group.
Based in Llanvaches, near Newport, we provide fun, friendship and adventure for over 60 young people aged 6–14. Supported by a team of dedicated volunteers, we help young people develop confidence, resilience and skills for life through a huge range of activities both indoors and outdoors.
We are an active Scout Group, with a hugely varied program of activities. No two weeks are ever the same. In the last year alone our members have enjoyed: Camping, Hiking, Archery, Cooking, Pioneering, Team Building, Climbing, Volunteering, Kayaking, Raft Building, Craft Activities, Sailing, Gardening, Navigating among dozens of other exciting activities.
As Scouts, we believe in preparing young people with skills for life. We encourage our young people to do more, learn more and be more. We are lucky enough to be situated in the quiet Welsh countryside on the edge of Wentwood Forest with all it has to offer.
We are proud to be part of the local community. We support local events, including every November working with Penhow Community Council, to organise a popular community fireworks display in Parc Seymour, which welcomes lots of local residents.
Our Beaver Colony meets regularly through term time on Friday evenings between 6:10 and 7:10.
Our Cub Pack meets regularly through term time on Wednesday evenings between 6:30 and 8:00.
Our Scout Troop meets regularly through term time on Friday evenings between 7:30 and 9:30.
